Sagunto-Caudiel section upgrade extended to Teruel

Adif has signed with Enyse the contract for the upgrade of the Signalling and Telecommunication systems in the section Monreal-Sagunto. Along the update of the Signalling system, the cables, telecoms and energy sub-systems will be adapted to protect the new Signalling system from possible interferences of the future electrification system of the line.

The works will allow to standardize the technology in the line, from the exit signal at Sagunto station all the way up to Teruel, installing new EiS23 electronic interlockings at the stations of Teruel, Caparrantes, Puerto Escandón, Puebla Valverde, Sarrión, Mora de Rubielos, Barracas and Masadas Blancas. This is where the connection is made with the Caudiel-Sagunto section – already equipped with this technology, recently commissioned. To the North, starting at Cella station, the existing interlockings will be modified all the way up to Monreal, establishing automatic blocks with axle counters throughout the section.

The project includes also new LED wayside signalling, compatible with the national digital ASFA system to be installed, along with point heaters and two centralized maintenance posts at Teruel and Sagunto. This upgrade will be included in the modification of the CTC at Valencia/Font de San Lluís. With an original execution plan of two years, these works are part of the complete renewal of the Cantabrian-Mediterranean corridor linking Valencia to Santander – which the European Union has included in the Trans European Transport Network.
