Marchamalo logistic terminal

The Port Authority of Tarragona is carrying on with the works for the new intermodal railway terminal of Puerto Centro de Guadalajara/Marchamalo. The solution for the Signalling and Telecommunication systems relates to the integration of this new terminal with the existing Adif facilities at Guadalajara.

The starting point of the works concerns the execution of the Project for the Signalling upgrade of the Northeast section of Madrid’s commuter network, which is now being carried out following the award to Enyse in 2022. The new project at Marchamalo includes the replacement of the interlocking at Guadalajara by a new EiS23 electronic interlocking, keeping the existing block between Guadalajara and Yunquera de Henares. Yunquera’s interlocking, also using Enyse’s technology, will be adapted to the new solution.

New axle counters will be installed for the block, whilst audio-frequency Jointless Track Circuits will be used for the new terminal and the section towards Guadalajara, as in the commuter section. Similar criteria will be used for the LED-based wayside signalling and the point machines. The new logistic terminal at Marchamalo joins the Vicálvaro enhancement in the operational upgrade of the dense Henares railway corridor.
