New Alcalá de Guadaira tramway

The ENYSE/SYNEOX/MAGTEL Joint Venture has been awarded with the contract for railway systems including Signalling and Telecommunications for the new tramway line connecting the city of Alcalá de Guadaira with Line 1 of Seville’s metro network.

The Project will develop a double track, electrified tramway line of approximately 12.5 km running through the municipalities of Seville, Dos Hermanas and Alcalá between the stations of Montecarmelo and Universidad Pablo Olavide. The interurban section using slab-track is 8.3 km long and the 4 final urban kilometres will use tramway-type platform.

This urban section includes 14 crossings with private traffic or pedestrian use, the running responsibility falling upon the driver, who will be using Drive On Sight mode. In the interurban section the Operational Control Centre is responsible for command and control of the tram’s operation. The line has seven stations, 5 stops and 5 electrical substations. It will be using six low-platform vehicles.

The railway systems included in the contract which will need coordination amongst them and with the rest of the tramway systems are:

  • Signalling and Automatic Train Protection, ATP
  • Semaphoric regulation and interface
  • Explotation Aid System
  • Fixed and mobile Telecommunications
  • Segurity and protection – anti-intrussion, CCTV, Access Control,…
  • Passenger Information System
  • Ticketing
  • Operational Control Centre, OCC

The contract relates to other contracts for the new tramway line, for which interfaces will have to be managed, including:

  • Lot 1, affecting the power supply systems.
  • Lot 3, Technical Buildings construction, particularly the one located at Venta la Liebre, where the backup OCC and the interlocking will be located.
  • Depot and Maintenance Project, where the OCC will be located.

This contract confirms Enyse’s strong push for the tramway solutions which were being deployed at the Alicante and Valencia’s projects for FGV. It will allow Enyse to further develop and taylor the Signalling functionalities associated to the particularities of the railway exploitation and operation works.
