Palencia South end

Within the frame of the construction of the new double track platform for the High-Speed Line, an upgrade is taking place for the two conventional lines accessing the South end of the city of Palencia. To that end, Adif has contracted Enyse the works related to the affected Signalling and Telecommunication systems.

In order to minimize the disruptions to the rail traffic, works have been programmed in eight phases, in which the existing interlockings at Palencia Arroyo Villalobón and Bifurcación Villamuriel de Cerrato will be replaced by a new EiS23 electronic interlocking. A modification will also take place at the existing interlocking in Palencia station, adapting as well all existing blocks to the new track layout in each of the phases. The scope includes the installation of audio-frequency jointless track circuit and LED type wayside signalling, including interfaces and balises of the national digital ASFA system.

The cabling network and energy subsystem will be upgraded accordingly, including a new transformation centre, as well as the technical buildings and the associated civil works. For the Telecommunications, the exploitation telephone system will be adapted, with new cables, Optic Fiber, and the modification of the central post at Palencia. Security and protection equipment will be installed in a new technical building, including CCTV and Access Control and Intrusion Detection facilities. The new system will be integrated using Adif’s standard protocol in a new CTC to be installed at Miranda de Ebro in the near future.
