Another phase commissioned at the Henares corridor
20.11.2024
The 3rd phase of the Atocha-Guadalajara line’s Signalling upgrade was commissioned following the possession established by Adif between the 1 st and 7 th of November. This phase includes the sections of track between Coslada, O’Donnell, Vicálvaro Mercancías and San Fernando de Henares, then carrying on to Torrejón de Ardoz. The main works on the system included:
- New EiS23 electronic interlocking at San Fernando, keeping the track side equipment with the exception of the replaced audio-frequency JTCs on the Coslada and O’Donnell sides.
- New EiS23 electronic interlocking at Torrejón, handling the four-track block with San Fernando.
- New EiS23 electronic interlocking at O’Donnell, including the block relations with Hortaleza, San Fernando and Vicálvaro Mercancías, as well as with Vicálvaro’s inland dry port. Audio-frequency JTCs have been installed from this end to San Fernando and Vicálvaro Mercancías.
- Replacement of application SW at Coslada, allowing the telecom block with San Fernando and supplying new wayside signals and audio-frequency JTCs.
- Upgrade of the EiS23 interlocking at Vicálvaro Mercancías, allowing a new double-track, both senses block with O´Donnell, eliminating the existing parallel interfaces.
Such works affected the lines detailed below, where both senses of circulation are now allowed. The tracks were returned after the possessions in due time and manner, without alterations to the train traffic – whether in the C1, C2, C7 or C8 commuter lines or the freight services.
- Vicálvaro to Torrejón de Ardoz, lines L930 and L200
- Hortaleza to San Fernando de Henares, line L200
- O’Donnell to Vicálvaro-Mercancías, line L940
- Vicálvaro to Vicálvaro-Mercancías, line L944
- Vicálvaro-Mercancías to Vicálvaro-Mercancías junction, line L948
Once again, from Enyse we want to thank the permanent availability and tremendous effort of the areas of Adif involving Project Management, Technical Assistance and Maintenance Department. The project goes on now towards Alcalá de Henares all the way up to Guadalajara, where it will link with the contract for the Signalling upgrade between Guadalajara and Ariza.
