Commissioning of Vicálvaro Cercanías, Coslada and Vicálvaro Mercancías

Last weekend, Enyse has commissioned three new EiS23 interlocking, two in Madrid commuter network, Vicálvaro Cercanías and Coslada and the third one in the logistic centre of Vicálvaro Mercancías.

The new EiS23 electronic interlocking keeps the existing block with the four-track line towards Vallecas whilst it opens new electronic blocks with Coslada and Vicálvaro Mercancías. The new interlocking at Coslada has been configured to keep the existing block with San Fernando de Henares until the next phase of the upgrading project for the safety installations between Atocha and Guadalajara, under execution by Enyse.

As part of the works carried out, the double-tracking of line 6 between Vicálvaro Cercanías, and Vicálvaro Mercancías is going to facilitate the progress of the upcoming phases of the upgrade of the new track layout at the logistics centre of Vicálvaro Mercancías. This iconic depot, opened in 1972 as a Classifying Station, is being transformed since 2019 into the most important railway logistic hub in the Iberian Peninsula, acting as a connection between the Atlantic and Mediterranean corridors.

The three new interlockings have been integrated into Madrid Chamartín’s CTC and have been commissioned with all lines under exploitation, with no traffic disruptions on the commuter trains, a fundamental circumstance given that three commuter lines of Madrid network go thru Vicálvaro and Coslada, making the Henares corridor one of the busiest lines of passenger traffic in Adif’s network. From Enyse, we want to thank the unconditional availability of Adif’s Maintenance Direction of Madrid as well as the Project Management and the Technical Assistance.
